hfv allows BII build 142 to see the image easily. To get a color background I set the display to 256 colors. I used a clean '030 ROM and set BII to emulate a IIfx Mac. It doesn't have the Performa models above as an option. : I was able to boot up to this image under Basilisk II, build 142 (Win 32). I blessed the System folder in the image so it should be bootable in emulated Performa 200, 400 & 405 (models this version shipped with). There's not much in the way of software on it, At Ease 1.0, HyperCard Player 2.1, TeachText, Mouse Basics, some docs and that's about it. It compressed down to an awesome 3.83 MB. The image above once mounted is 160 MB in size so it should be plenty of disk space if you're going to use this as an emulated hard drive.
Not easy to create these days as you need to have a physical floppy drive and use floppy disks to install - also the installer wants to over-write an existing hard drive's system if you have one. Made for Performa 400 (LC) Macintosh or emulator.īy MikeTomTom - 2015, August 7 - Oh you wanted a pre-made image
A patch named with the extension "Tune-Up" also followed, which fixed the "disappearing files" bug in which the system would lose files In August 1992, the 7.1 update was released which introduced the Fonts folder.
Soon after the initial release of Mac OS 7, the 7.0.1 minor update was released in October 1991. Mac OS 7 was developed for the Motorola 68k processor, but was ported to the PowerPC after Apple adopted the new processor. With the release of version 7.6 in 1997, Apple officially renamed the operating system "Mac OS", a name which had first appeared on Mac OS 7.5.1's boot screen. Features added with the Mac OS 7 release included cooperative multitasking, virtual memory, personal file sharing, an improved user interface, QuickTime, and QuickDraw 3D. It succeeded System 6, and was the main Macintosh operating system until it was succeeded by Mac OS 8 in 1997. The Mac OS 7 (codenamed "Big Bang" and sometimes called Mac OS 7) is a single-user graphical user interface-based operating system for Macintosh computers.
